Everyday I try to listen to at least one new artist I’ve never heard of. If you need new music, set some time aside to just get lost in Soundcloud reposts and exploration of the Spotify discovery feature. It may be cliché to say I like all types of music, but I really do. Recently I have not been able to get enough of these three artists. While entirely different they all are making incredible moves in their respective genres. Here they are in no particular order. Enjoy.
I saw Branchez earlier this month at the Concord Music Hall in Chicago when he opened with Loupvck for Paper Diamond. The New York producers distinctive soul spin over soft yet still turnt beats has been quickly raising him up the ranks as one of the most exciting EDM artists of the moment.
I can’t get enough of his Stay by Rhianna remix and his hilarious “Brancheeezzzzz” intro (trust me you’ve just got to hear it). If you have a chance to see him do so soon while he is still small enough to be playing intimate venues. This guy is on the fast track to musical glory.

I have been following Sky since we were both 15 and Myspace was still cool. While it’s taken years of struggle with labels and managers to finally be free to produce an album that is truly uniquely hers, Sky has finally been able to achieve that goal with her debut album “Night Time, My Time.”
While the haters give her grief for her sound changing so many times this album proves to me that not only is Sky the real deal but she’s also tough as hell to have fought all the opposition until she was finally able to release an album she’s proud of. The girls got a voice and while her sound is a distinctive 80s pop throwback it is still entirely her own.
My personal favorite tracks are “24 Hours” and “Heavy Metal Heart.” Sky is currently on tour with Miley Cyrus for her incredibly successful Bangerz tour. So get ready because Sky’s the next big thing to hit pop music.

If you are ever having a bad day just listen to Twiddles “When it Rains it Pours.” Hands down greatest feel-good song of all time (yes even better than Pharrell’s “Happy” I dare say). These Colorado natives have quickly been moving their way up the jam band scene through patience, positive attitude and a genuine and vocal appreciation for their fans.
If you can dig SCI, Phish, Yonder, etc. (and if you are from Colorado I know you can) then you’ve got to give these kids a listen. Check them out at Wild Woods Festival in New Hampshire this August.
